Unisorting analyses even “what cannot be seen”

Unical 8.0 with Apples Sort 3 system allows creating new fruit classifying categories

For the past two years Unitec has been completely immersed in the world of apples and pears, with a specific subsidiary for these and other fruit: Unisorting, created from its own experience and from that of other long-standing companies in the sector, Sammo, Sado and Longobardi.

One of its star products is the Unical 8.0 Technology with Apples Sort 3 system that has managed to provide value to these fruits, giving another turn of the screw to the classification systems, even analysing what cannot be seen. “Now new categories can be created, which classify the best fruit, with excellent qualities and longer shelf life expectancy,” Angelo Benedetti, chairman of the UNITEC Group explained during the presentation at Interpoma. “We should not forget that a beautiful fruit not only has no defects on the outside, it must also be good to eat. And with this system we can select the aspects that interest clients the most.”

Unical 8.0 with Apples Sort 3 system operates using specific, very high-resolution cameras, which allow the internal and external quality of any apple variety to be classified with extremely high accuracy and reliability according to many different parameters: internal quality, external quality, shape faults, in addition to the more traditional ones of size and colour, in the different percentages present in each fruit.

Many fruit and vegetable growing centres have already placed their trust in Unisorting to guarantee their clients greater quality levels in the main production regions, such as Italy, where Solfrutti has recently purchased a four-channel line for apples, equipped with the Unical 8.0 technology with Apples Sort 3 system. In addition to this, in countries where apples are an expanding crop, such as Russia, they have also been placing their trust in the company’s experience for several years now. At Sad Gigant, a company with a tradition of almost ninety years behind it, they have installed a six-channel line equipped with Apples Vision 2 technology for preparing and classifying apples.

“Our slogan, in which we strongly believe, is that our technologies must pay for themselves from the profits that they generate for our clients alone,” Benedetti commented.

And the fact is that Unical 8.0 allows a maximum level of efficiency, competitiveness and therefore profitability to be reached, thanks to its highly innovative “soul”, which brings together maximum productivity with significant reliability and delicacy. It also guarantees respect for the hygiene regulations with the highest standards (EHSR 2.1 of the Machines Directive 2006/42/EC). And all of this with great ease of use in the tightest spaces.
