According to Climatempo, accumulated rainfall in the Triângulo Mineiro region of Minas Gerais reached 91 mm between 1 and 19 June, a figure 264% above the historical average for the period.
Reports from market sources also indicate that high humidity worsened quality problems in onions, with part of the crop affected by issues linked to excess water, including waterlogging and bacterial blight.
In Cristalina, Goiás, rainfall reached around 38 mm during the month. Although this volume was relatively low, it was also above the region’s historical average. However, sources consulted by Hortifrúti/Cepea said no significant impact on plant health had been observed, as many growers use preventive practices such as covering bulbs in the fields to reduce possible damage to product quality.
