Yuksel Seeds has launched the “Plantamos contigo” (“We plant with you”) programme in Spain, aimed at growers who have been forced to remove their pepper crops due to damage caused by Thrips parvispinus.

The programme includes specialised technical advice to help plan the next crop, as well as a 15% discount on the purchase of tomato and cucumber plants from varieties available at local nurseries.

The initiative begins today and will remain in place while stocks last. Growers can access the programme through Yuksel Seeds’ network of distributors and its commercial team in Spain.

Measures introduced by the Andalusian authorities to contain T. parvispinus include the controlled removal and disposal of affected crops, greenhouse cleaning and disinfection, and delaying the establishment of a new crop.

Yuksel Seeds is supporting growers who have taken this step in planning their next crop based on technical criteria and in compliance with the deadlines established by current regulations.

For Francisco Sabio, Country Manager of Yuksel Seeds Iberia, “as a company that works alongside growers every day, we know what it means to remove a crop. Our role is to stand by growers, help them plan and support them through the next production cycle. According to industry estimates, around 200 hectares of pepper have been removed so far this season.”

Technical support

In addition to the financial support, Yuksel Seeds’ technical team will advise growers on crop rotation planning and integrated crop management for the new planting, in coordination with their usual advisers.

Growers interested in the programme can consult the terms and conditions with their regular distributor or with the Yuksel Seeds commercial team in Spain.
