UNICA turns 18 with turnover exceeding €900 million

The cooperative approves Spain’s first fully integrated Operational Programme, with an annual budget of €50 million and €27 million in aid
UNICA

UNICA closes 2026 with turnover of €822 million from the marketing of fruit and vegetables, 11% more than in the previous season. Including the full range of activities carried out by its member cooperatives — supplies, fuel, services and others — consolidated turnover reaches €902 million.

The results come in a particularly significant year. The company is embarking on its 18th season since it was founded, reaching its coming of age with a business scale that enables it to enter a new phase of growth, one that will necessarily involve creating greater value.

Fully integrated Operational Programme

The second-tier cooperative, recognised as an Association of Producer Organisations (APO), has submitted Spain’s first fully integrated Operational Programme, with close to €27 million in annual aid, equivalent to 5% of the value of marketed production. The Operational Programme has an annual budget of close to €50 million and is the first of its kind in the European Union, as well as the largest, bringing together the operational programmes of all the cooperatives affiliated with UNICA.

Launch of Popits™ cucumber

Popits™ is a bite-sized cucumber measuring between 4 and 5 centimetres, developed to address several challenges: offering consumers a healthy and convenient snacking alternative while improving production efficiency for growers.

Its greater sweetness and particularly crunchy texture make it suitable for eating straight as a snack, adding to packed lunches or using in appetisers and other preparations.

UNICA is also showcasing a range of solutions designed to respond to new consumption habits, with a particular focus on healthy snacking, convenience and meal-preparation solutions.

Alongside products such as Tatayoyo pepper, berries and smaller formats, the cooperative is working on ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat solutions. These include fresh grated tomato produced using High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology, fresh-cut fruit and a gazpacho kit developed jointly with one of the leading retail chains.
