12% more of ‘The red one with most flavour’

Grupo Caparrós plans to increase the volumes of its seedless Caparrós Premium watermelon.

The seedless watermelon, Caparrós Premium is becoming consolidated as a reference point in its segment. It has a magnificent acceptance on the home market, as well as on the international one, where around 30-35% of its total volume is exported. “Our aim is to continue growing and making our customers loyal to us thanks to the extraordinary quality of our seedless watermelon, Caparrós Premium,” sources from the company state. This campaign is expected to be very positive, with an approximate growth of 12% compared to 2015/16.

To adapt to this growth, in 2016 an important investment was used to acquire new technological machinery. This modernisation of the watermelon production line is made up by a destacking unit, a preparation line, an elevator and stacker, a roller conveyor belt and an enlargement of the cold storage room, amongst others. Additionally, this year they are going to continue enlarging and modernising their installations with new cooling systems, palletisers, etc.

Within this philosophy of constant innovation, Grupo Caparrós launched last year a new watermelon-based gazpacho that had a very favourable reception. This gazpacho has an exceptional flavour and texture, it is prepared with very high quality produce and it is ready to eat (production of the first gazpachos of the season started at the end of March).

With deep roots in the local environment, Grupo Caparrós started promoting the seedless watermelon, Caparrós Premium “The red one with most flavour,” with its Spring Concert, which brings together music by the Orchestra of Almeria, the passion of Anamar’s singing and the beauty and expressivity of Inés de Inés’ dancing (the image of ‘La roja con más sabor’).


Many activities have been added to this event, from the traditional promotions in cinemas, on buses, hoardings and in the specialised press, to others that follow their philosophy and commitment to healthy eating and lifestyle habits. On this point, it is worth emphasising the ‘Bocata Caparrós Saludable’ (Caparrós Healthy Sandwich) project, with which they are going to be present in 12 towns in the province of Almeria.
