Semillas Fitó: research, service and guarantee

These three premises have turned the Spanish company into a leader in different segments, such as melon, aubergine, and Dutch cucumber.

Semillas Fitó will be present at Fruit Attraction 2016 with a stand in hall 4 (Stand 4E10) where the main brand names in the world in the seeds, nutrition and plant protection for the fruit and vegetable growing sector will gather.

On its stand, the Spanish multinational emphasises the values that have made it into one of the great companies worldwide: research, service, and its brand guarantee, Fitó. Thanks to these values, which have been the company’s foundation over its 135 years of history, Semillas Fitó is the market leader in different countries in the world in segments such as melons, aubergines or Dutch cucumbers, and it has an increasingly important range in tomatoes, watermelons, peppers, courgettes and in different specialities.

Research. The company has a large team working on improvements over its 6 R&D+i centres. Researchers work with the latest innovations in the field of improvements and biotechnology, depending on the specific requirements of each climate and market. Thanks to this, they periodically launch new, more resistant and productive seeds, which give fruit with more attractive colours, more appetising textures and more intense flavours, in response to consumers’ demands.

Since 1880, the company has always wanted to remain very close to the farmers, working together to develop their businesses. The experienced technical and sales team at Fitó is completely involved with the company’s clients to optimise the crop yield. This advisory capacity is highly appreciated today in over 70 countries, where the brand Fitó helps farmers to develop their businesses, showing them new market trends and future demands of the large distribution chains.

Fitó also represents a brand guarantee with over a century of experience in the development of varieties of aubergine, melon, cucumber, tomato, pepper, courgette, watermelon, or broad bean. The comprehensive knowledge of these species has turned the company into a worldwide reference point. This guarantee is complemented with a top level seed production system and a very strict quality control. The satisfaction of the most demanding farmers and the company’s leadership in types such as the semi-long aubergine, the yellow melon and the Dutch cucumber are reliable proof of this brand guarantee.

Over the three days of Fruit Attraction, emphasis will be placed on the wide range of varieties in the three main segments. In melon, the yellow family will stand out, with varieties such as Malerva, Fenicio, Soleares, Cristiano or the new Robledo, without forgetting the broad range of varieties in Piel de Sapo, Galia, Branco or Cantaloupe Solmarín melons. The aubergine range is taking off with black semi-long varieties, such as Cristal and Erica and the new development, Amalia, which are joined by the new semi-long listed varieties Esmeralda and Nerea, or the round black variety Giada, and the long black variety Senegal. The Fitó range in Dutch cucumber includes varieties such as Benito, Encina, Estrada, Madroño, Mitre, Granada or new developments such as Drago and Normando.

The success of Monterosa. The company’s latest triumph will have a space exclusively devoted to the Monterosa tomato (www.tomatemonterosa.com). This is a new variety with the particular singularity of its extraordinary traditional flavour in winter crops. We should remember that Monterosa won the 5th Edition of the “A tu salud” (To your health) Awards, organised by La Razón newspaper in its category “Award for fruit and vegetable growing innovation”.
