6th International Berry Fruit Congress

Congreso frutos rojos

The sixth edition of the International Berry Fruit Congress will be held at the Casa Colón in Huelva on the 15th and 16th of September

In 2020, the pandemic first forced the 6th International Berry Fruit Congress to be delayed from June to September and then it was finally cancelled. Now, the organising committee considers that, due to the evolution of the pandemic and of the vaccination against Covid-19, next September the conditions could well be more favourable to holding the most important meeting in the international berry sector.

Safety will be the top priority of the Congress’s organisation, which will adapt to the pandemic situation at the time and where all the appropriate steps will be adopted to ensure that congress-goers, exhibitors and participating companies do so with full guarantees. In any case, the idea is to maintain the feeling of togetherness among all the links of the chain that form part of the important red berry sector.

Once again, the event will count on the Fundación Caja Rural del Sur as its exclusive main sponsor, in another example of its unconditional support of the sector.

Likewise, the City Council of Huelva, the Provincial Council and the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fishing and Sustainable Development have renewed their presence at the congress in Huelva as institutional sponsors, an essential backing for the organisation that shows the institutional unity of both Huelva and Andalusia regarding this important event. In fact, at its last edition held in 2019 it managed to bring together over 1,300 people for two days, when it analysed and debated the current situation of the sector.

As a new development this year, Extenda-Andalucía Exportación e Inversión Extranjera, one of the sector’s regular companions has joined the institutional sponsors.

A result of the agreement signed between Freshuelva and Extenda, the Andalusian organisation will bring to the Congress its knowledge of business internationalisation and exports through its Foreign Network, present on 62 markets, which will allow the possibilities currently presented by the markets for red berries to be tackled, as well as the evolution of these markets that allows the sector to get ahead of other competitors.

Highly attractive technical seminars

The organising committee of the 6th International Berry Fruit Congress is already working on the design of the event’s technical programme which, amongst other topics, will cover subjects such as the new possibilities of international markets for red berries; the sector’s categorical commitment to sustainability; new berry varieties, as well as the main innovative projects that are marking out the future of red berries.

The main reference trade fairs in the European fruit and vegetable growing sector, Fruit Logística and Fruit Attraction, will once again be present at the conference in Huelva in the organisation of the event’s technical seminars and contributing to their dissemination.

Registration to the congress will be activated in the near future and may be formalised through www.congresofrutosrojos.com.
