The product is in line with the brand’s commitment to the environment, promoting responsible farming techniques
As a response to the needs of today’s society, Bonduelle is offering its new ‘pesticide-free’ sweet corn, as the first product from the company with this stamp. Additionally, consumers continue benefitting from the guarantee of GMO-free sweet corn, without preservatives and without added sugar.
The ‘pesticide-free’ guarantee means that no active chemical pesticide substance has been detected, not even in a minimal amount that could be measured (0.01 mg/kg). To do this, they analyse over 500 sweet corn molecules.
New production techniques
For over 160 years, Bonduelle has been working with its farmer partners on a daily basis to develop more responsible farming methods.
Accordingly, since 1996 the brand has used an Agronomic Supply Contract signed by 96% of its farmer partners, which is renewed annually.
Bonduelle’s ambition to reduce pesticide residue forms part of the idea behind this Agronomic Charter. In order to produce foods with this guarantee, Bonduelle implements alternative cultivation techniques (mechanical removal, strip-till, biological control, use of anti-insect nets, etc.) and it promotes new practices: periodic land visits, monitoring of pests, selective treatment of pests…
“At Bonduelle we are committed to the planet’s future and we want to be a reference in plant-based foods,” Jorge Alonso, Marketing Manager of Bonduelle Ibérica, comments. “With our new ‘pesticide-free’ sweet corn, we are achieving a doubly positive impact: we propose a healthy food for consumers, and we are promoting sustainable farming, obtaining the best from nature.”
Bonduelle’s ‘pesticide-free’ sweet corn is available in the canned vegetable section of most hypermarkets and supermarkets. It comes in 70g cans (in a 3-unit pack), 140g (single cans and in packs of 2 and 3) and 285g (loose cans).
