Coello joins the Varieties Committee

The Operations Manager from the company from Valladolid Patatas Meléndez, Juan Manuel Coello, has been appointed as an expert on the Spanish National Committee on Evaluation of Potato Varieties by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

In this new role, Coello will evaluate the applications for new commercial varieties that are presented to the register. The National Committees are mandatory consultation bodies that inform about the inscription proposals on the Commercial Varieties Register. The selection of new experts is based on the principle of specialisation and his appointment has been formulated by the General Management of Productions and Markets for a three-year period.

Over 20 years of experience working in the potato sector endorse this appointment. Within Patatas Meléndez, Coello has passed through positions of great responsibility and management until reaching his current job.

“It is a true honour to be a member of the Spanish National Committee on Evaluation of Potato Varieties and to be able to bring what I have learnt over so many years devoted to the sector to this committee. It is an important step in my career, and I am looking forward to it with great enthusiasm,” Coello comments.
