The Extremadura company Sol de Badajoz is immersed in a variety renewal during this campaign, with the commitment to materials with higher sugar levels and greater robustness in white-fleshed peaches and nectarines. It is also extending its offer, with persimmons and pomegranates, references with which it is managing to lengthen the marketing periods.
This season, the company predicts reaching 45 million kilos and over the next few years it will go even further, as the surface area has been increased “for all the produce, with more focus on apricots and flat peaches,” the sales manager, Antonio Gomes, explains to Fruit Today. In total, Sol de Badajoz already has 2,700 hectares of its own crops.
On an operational and logistical level, the company is also taking on some important changes. On the one hand, the installation of anti-hail netting (they have already covered 100 hectares in a first phase) and they are going to extend the central premises by over 4.500 m², increasing the capacity for refrigeration, preparation and storage of packaging.
