International Cargo Logistics (ICL) continues to expand its global network with the opening of a new branch in Felixstowe, East Suffolk, reinforcing its presence in the United Kingdom. The new location represents the company’s fifth UK office, alongside its operations in Heathrow, Glasgow, Bristol and Manchester, while the group also maintains international facilities in the Netherlands and Vietnam.
The Felixstowe branch will be led by Joe Walsh, a logistics professional with more than 22 years of industry experience. Walsh brings extensive expertise in managing ocean, air, road and rail transport operations, as well as warehouse and customs clearance services. Initially, he will be supported by a Senior Import/Export operator, with plans to expand the team as the office develops.
A strategic location for international freight
The choice of Felixstowe responds to the strategic importance of the port, which is the largest container port in the UK, handling 48% of the country’s containerised freight. With a history spanning 150 years, the port’s location provides direct access to major shipping routes and strengthens connections with European and Asian markets.
ICL considers the new branch a key step in capitalising on growth opportunities linked to the area’s logistics activity and the increasing demand for international freight solutions.
Expanding global logistics capabilities
ICL CEO Yoav Izhari highlighted the importance of the new opening within the company’s international development strategy.
“ICL currently operates in over 207 countries, offering air, sea and road freight services, alongside warehouse and fulfilment, customs clearance and specialist temperature-controlled storage solutions,” explains Izhari.
According to the CEO, establishing a presence in Felixstowe is a logical move that will allow the company to benefit from the opportunities generated by one of the UK’s most important freight hubs.
The company expects the new branch to follow the growth path achieved by its Bristol and Manchester offices, which were both opened two years ago. ICL highlights the experience of Joe Walsh and his knowledge of the Port of Felixstowe as key factors in supporting the future development of the operation.
With this expansion, International Cargo Logistics strengthens its position as a global freight solutions provider, combining local presence with an international network to support customers across multiple markets.
