Peru’s Hass avocado industry has closed the 2025 season with record-breaking figures, reinforcing its position as a leading player in the global market. With total exports reaching 722,754 tonnes, the sector recorded a 38% increase compared to 2024, surpassing previous historical highs.
This milestone marks a strong recovery following a season impacted by adverse weather conditions and highlights the sector’s production capacity and resilience. Peruvian avocados are now exported to around 70 international markets, with Europe remaining the main destination, accounting for 62.6% of total shipments and holding a 45% share of avocado consumption within the European Union.
From growth to market balance
Despite these strong figures, the industry acknowledges that the current scenario requires a strategic shift. According to ProHass Peru, the key challenge is no longer to increase volumes, but to ensure the long-term sustainability of the business.
The growing supply requires more precise management of the balance between production and demand, avoiding price pressures that could negatively impact growers’ returns. In this context, product quality and market strategy are becoming essential to maintaining competitiveness.
2030 target: growth with strategy
Looking ahead, the Peruvian industry aims to reach 1 million tonnes of avocado exports by 2030. However, analysts and industry organisations agree that this target must be achieved through a “smart growth” strategy.

Leadership requires careful management
Peru’s Hass avocado sector has demonstrated remarkable resilience and expansion capacity in recent years. The challenge now lies in translating that growth into long-term stability, ensuring that increased supply results in added value and a solid, sustainable position in global markets.
