An Alliance between Almeria and Granada

Antonio Sánchez and La Unión are joining synergies to market tropical fruits through a new company, Taramay Frutas.

Experience counts, and in the case of Taramay it counts twice. The new company from the Tropical Coast arises from the coming together of a businessman with over 25 years’ experience in tropical fruits, Antonio Sánchez (manager of the now defunct Frutas El Romeral), and a company from Almeria, Alhóndiga La Unión, one of the giants from the Plastic Sea. Its offer will concentrate on avocados, custard apples and mangos, supplying produce 12 months of the year, and in the short term, they intend to extend the range with exotic fruits such as rambutan, passion fruit, pitahayas and pineapples.

In this first campaign, they have 1.5 million kilos of production, both their own and produced by associates, to which they will add volumes yet to be determined from other sources (Peru, Chile, Colombia, Africa…).

Last August, the organisation presented its project to over 70 farmers from the region, emphasising the advantages of being able to belong to the fruit and vegetable producer organisations of AFE Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza and access to the Operating Funds, as well as the importance of being able to access La Union’s extensive marketing network.

All the details about the company may be discovered during Fruit Attraction, on stand 9D05.
