The French firm AgroSelections Fruits is presenting its latest development at Fruit Attraction: the Candine apple.
Candine is an exclusive variety that will be marketed by Blue Whale in France and Apofruit in Italy. Its development is in progress in other countries.
This is the first year harvesting the orchards that were planted three years ago. “We will present the apple officially in Madrid, but we already have some very good feedback regarding its acceptance by customers all over the world. Its flavour and very crunchy and juicy texture mean a new taste experience for consumers,” explains Laurence Maillard, an executive from the company.
Candine corresponds to a very sweet variety, with resistance to spotting and colouring that is 80% bright red or pink. Its resistance to spotting makes it a perfect option for ecological productions.
This apple is harvested in September and it maintains its optimum characteristics post-harvest. It will be a product that can be available all year long, because it will also be grown in Chile, South Africa and Brazil.
