‘Microgreens’, a mini version of the Mediterranean

Sun&Vegs is bringing the first live vegetable sprouts on the market to the Berlin trade fair

Sun&Vegs, the specialist brand in fresh, healthy produce, will exhibit its latest developments at Fruit Logística. In addition to its traditional agricultural assortment, the brand will present its microgreens, the first live vegetable sprouts to be brought to the market.

This is a product that is becoming increasingly visible in international cooking due to its distinctive smell, flavour and colour and the important concentration of nutritional properties. Sun&Vegs’ microgreens, which bring together the essence of the Mediterranean in miniature, are presented in four different varieties, each one with a very characteristic colour and flavour: broccoli, mustard, radish and kale.

To guarantee maximum freshness and quality, the brand has developed an innovative packaging with a base of substrate, which allows the product to be marketed live, lengthening its shelf life and aiding consumption.

The cultivation of the microgreens by Sun&Vegs forms part of the developments that the company is carrying out at its Agronomical Innovation Centre (CIAM) in Montserrat (Valencia). These installations are being used to research more efficient and sustainable crop processes and methods, as well as testing new agricultural varieties in current trending foodstuffs, such as baby lettuces (sprouts) or the microgreens themselves.

In addition to the new crops, Sun&Vegs will show over 30 references of fruit and vegetables, amongst which are different types of courgette, little gem or romaine lettuces and radishes. The company has its own production in fields that cover over 5,000 hectares and are located along the Mediterranean coast.
