The El Corte Inglés Group and the company from Murcia El Monarca will market “solidary melons” for the benefit of Down España
This produce will be on sale in all the Group’s centres (El Corte Inglés Supermarket, Hipercor and Supercor) until the 30th of September.
A percentage of the amount collected with the “solidary melons” will be used for local projects by the organisations that are federated to DOWN ESPAÑA. In 2017, this will be used for the Ressido project from the ASSIDO Murcia association, to build a Home and a Centre to Promote Personal Independence on some land handed over by the City Council of Murcia, with a surface area of 3,230 m2 and a surface area for the building of 3,758 m2.
In the campaign presentation event, held in Madrid, the chairman of Down España, José Fabián Cámara; José Atanasio, “El Monarca” Fruit and Vegetables Communication Manager, and Vicente del Bosque, former Spanish football coach were present, accompanied by Alvaro de Cabo, in charge of fruit and vegetables for El Corte Inglés Group.
The programmes developed by Down España cover all areas of life of people with Down syndrome, and they are aimed at ensuring their independence throughout their lives.
They support the family from the moment when they discover that the child they are expecting has Down syndrome, and they work from early care during the first years, developing support programmes for the family, educational and leisure inclusion, employment with support and promotion services for personal Independence in their adult lives.
