Anecoop celebrates its 50th anniversary

More than 850 guests attended the celebration, highlighting the role of people as the cornerstone of the cooperative’s success over five decades
ANECOOP-ASAMBLEA

Anecoop celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Auditorium of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía, in the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. In an emotional event, its president, Alejandro Monzón, and its CEO, Joan Mir, both emphasised that: “We celebrate half a century of history and shared values, of unity, collective effort and a deep commitment to agriculture, the land and people.”

More than 850 guests gathered to commemorate five decades of trajectory, in an event of recognition and gratitude to all those who have made possible, since its founding in 1975, the growth of Anecoop into an international benchmark in agri-food cooperativism.

Addressing them, Alejandro Monzón stated: “Thank you for believing in this project. Thank you for believing in the strength of cooperativism.” Looking ahead, he added: “Today we continue building together what others will carry forward. Because when Anecoop moves forward, an entire sector and its people move forward—our reason for being.”

Joan Mir reviewed the achievements and key milestones reached over these fifty years, describing the organisation as “adaptive, internationalised, diversified, innovative and deeply resilient”. He concluded by focusing on one of the sector’s greatest challenges—generational renewal—addressing younger audiences: “You have the great responsibility of feeding future generations. We need your energy, creativity, talent and capacity to transform. You are the future. Our history is in your hands.”

2024–25 campaign results

The balance presented during the cooperative’s General Assembly highlights a record-breaking campaign, both in terms of its own turnover and the combined turnover of all companies within the Anecoop Group.

During the period analysed, Anecoop reached a new historic turnover of €986.7 million, representing an increase of 4.39% compared to the previous financial year. The combined turnover of the Anecoop Group also reached a record €1.166 billion, up 3.5% compared to the 2023–2024 campaign.

In citrus, Anecoop marketed a volume similar to the previous campaign: 263,969 tonnes, with a slight increase in turnover to €284.7 million, up 1.7% year-on-year. Market share grew, particularly in late-season mandarins; the cooperative maintained leadership in Navelina and made significant progress in the red orange segment.

In the fruit category, turnover increased by 7.7% (€372.7 million) thanks to higher average selling prices, despite a drop in volume mainly in persimmon due to the effects of the DANA weather event. Watermelon and melon volumes remained similar to the previous year, while berries recorded a strong campaign with positive trends in both volume and prices.

Vegetables also delivered solid results, with growth in both volume (181,746 tonnes; +2.18%) and turnover (€295.8 million; +3.8%).

Cooperative integration

CEO Joan Mir also reviewed key milestones in cooperative integration during the campaign: “In the first half of 2025, Anecoop expanded with the incorporation of Eurofruits Levante S.L., as well as Novacoop Mediterránea SXXI S.L. (formed by Grup Cooperatiu Fruits de Ponent and Actel Grup).”
