In addition to hosting an Expolevante with a record number of Dutch, German, Italian and Portuguese companies, Níjar has consolidated its position as the European municipality with the highest percentage of land dedicated to certified organic farming (approximately 50% of its more than 6,000 hectares of greenhouses).
For this reason, José Francisco Garrido, Mayor of Níjar, describes his municipality and the province of Almería as a “global powerhouse” in terms of production and exports. “In the case of Níjar, agriculture generates around €800 million; a sector that, particularly in our municipality, has made sustainability and certified quality its defining features. As I like to say, we are the municipality of the three ‘S’s’: taste, health and sustainability—another reason to be proud to be from Níjar.”
The delegate of the Campohermoso Exhibitors Association, José Francisco Torres, points to the participation of around 400 stands across nearly 20,000 square metres of exhibition space. This area will be divided into four pavilions: two outdoor spaces for machinery and commercial vehicles, and two indoor pavilions of 5,000 square metres each, which will showcase products and services essential for agricultural activity.

“The level of internationalisation of the fair is increasingly well established. In addition to hosting more companies than ever from the European Union, entities from more than a dozen countries will also be present.” These companies cover the entire agricultural sector, including producers, seed companies, fertilisers, plastics, integrated pest management and more.
Running alongside the fair, the 3rd edition of the World Tomato Congress will take place on 21 and 22 April (morning sessions) in the conference hall at the same venue as Expolevante-Níjar.
This global congress on tomato production will bring together international experts to present their knowledge, the latest developments in the crop and their outlook on the future across different areas of production, from varietal selection and genetics to harvesting.
Also noteworthy are the talks organised as part of Expolevante’s programme by agricultural schools in the province, the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Almería and exhibitors who wish to expand their commercial activities during the event.
