The company is evolving its logistics model for fruit and vegetables

The logistics services provider JCARRION, specialised in controlled temperature transport services, supplies a global service to its customers. Additionally, it offers all the complementary services that the transporters with which they work might require.

Its catalogue of services has evolved to include the implementation of a service that its customers are already enjoying. This is a multi-collection system at the different European production points: the Iberian mainland, Italy, Southern France, Holland and even Morocco, which is then consolidated at source at the company’s different logistic hubs. It also offers the possibility of carrying out quality controls prior to its dispatch, and ensuring the fruit and vegetables arrive at the large consumption centres in central and northern Europe, optimising the transit time, using fast or express (non-stop) journeys. JCARRION offers this possibility from a pallet of produce to a complete lorry load, adapting to each customer’s load requirements.

José Sánchez, operations manager, emphasises product care, an assertion proven by the investment made in technology and cold storage installations in recent years to guarantee the cold chain, its traceability and product freshness.

Within these new technological developments, the company has recently implemented the ERP SAP S4HANA, which allows integration with the customer’s own systems to improve the quality and flexibility of the services given. Furthermore, they are also immersed in the evolution of on-board technology, which allows new added value services to be incorporated, such as online information exchange, document management and traceability.

“After the significant investment made in growing and marketing the produce, the necessary importance must be given to its care during the logistics chain. If we take into account that a fresh product has a shelf-life of around 12-14 days, cutting down transit time and applying the greatest care in the transport can have a very big economic impact on our customers.”

This year, JCARRION will be present at Fruit Attraction with its own stand (Hall 10, stand D11), where its latest developments will be explained.
