The consolidated, constant offer from Frutas Escandell is the result of a joint working history with their suppliers at source.
Citrus fruit, pip fruit, persimmons, grapes, mushrooms and all kinds of berries, along with ecological produce, make up the product range that the Catalan company markets at its installations in Mercabarna.
A very important role is played in the configuration of this offer by the specific associates in each product family; in some cases, representing long-standing work partnerships.
One example is its specialist line in strawberries and berries “with almost 30 years of history. They are proof of their quality, confidence and reputation. They are sold regularly and continuously from December to June under the brands Naturfresa and No&Ca”, states Vicente Escandell, manager and fourth generation at the head of the company, along with his siblings Aurora and Joan.
The Catalan company’s philosophy is based on combining good service to suppliers and offering the best selection of products to each client.
As with any company, the executive confirms that “companies must generate confidence and reputation to be well-positioned on the market and more so, in this period that has been shaken by the pandemic-generated uncertainty.”
Social commitment is in Frutas Escandell’s blood and this is behind the different supportive actions through donations of fruit and vegetables that have been emphasised by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In social terms, Escandell states that “with the current health crisis, the most vulnerable part of the population has significantly increased and, for this reason, as part of our commitment we have raised our fruit and vegetable donations to charitable organisations and we have joined the new initiative T-Mercabarna Solidària for food donations to the Red Cross, in addition to our constant collaboration with the Mercabarna Food Bank.”
