100% eco for the past 25 years

29 May, 2019

Vitalis is strongly committed to the sustainability, traceability and confidence in the sector

The main producing and marketing companies of ecological fruit and vegetable produce in countries such as the USA, France, Germany, Spain, Holland and Italy, amongst others, have had the support of Vitalis Organic Seeds as their partner, supporting them and providing them with solutions to be able to offer an ecological product from the source, with ecological seeds for the past 25 years.

Taking into account that the growth in consumption of fresh organic produce is a worldwide reality and that the population is becoming increasingly responsive with regard to a sustainable consumption model, in which all the processes of the supply chain are completely organic, the possibility of offering 100% ecological traceability, from the seed, is a highly differentiating value.

These benchmark producing companies can enjoy around 500 fruit and vegetable varieties, divided up into 24 different crops on a global scale, and nationally over 200 varieties that are certified as organic and registered on the MAPA database. These varieties belong to vegetable crops, mainly lettuce, cucumber, pepper, tomato, pumpkin, brassicas, melon, herbs and onion, amongst others.

To underscore some reference varieties that these companies are using in Spain, we could mention the red conical “Sixto” pepper with disease resistance, the yellow California pepper for Almeria, “Calcio” with resistance to ash or “Brocanto” and “Tamarín” in California yellow and red respectively for Murcia. In tomatoes, the baby red plum tomato “Bosco” stands out, which is becoming increasingly important on the market due to its great flavour, or the vine tomato “Cortesía” that combines flavour and post-harvest to perfection. In pumpkins, “Orange Summer” is the global reference. We could also talk about the range of no-CMS cauliflowers and an endless variety of iceberg and mini romaine lettuces with full resistance.

Additionally, they are using their range of cucumbers such as Levantino or Braganza to help them to reduce the use of plastic in their productions, as these varieties offer a 10 day improvement in post-harvest compared to other varieties on the market, obtaining products that keep their freshness longer, allowing the use of plastic packaging to be reduced as much as possible.

Tomazur Organic, EasyQs Organic and Tribelli Organic are also reference brands for both producers and consumers offered by Vitalis.

The demand for ecological foods will continue to grow and Vitalis will keep working to promote transparency, traceability and quality in the processes and products from the organic fruit and vegetable sector.
