The College of Agricultural Engineers of Levant has awarded prizes to Tecnidex, two engineers from the administration and the Spanish Agronutrient Manufacturers Association
For Baldomero Segura, dean of the COIAL, “these awards have no other purpose than to make a strategic sector more visible; a sector that has shown its capacity to stand up to the toughest onslaughts of the crisis, generating wealth and stable employment”. According to Segura, the lack of civil servants with experience to push forward aid applications in Europe, “endangers the arrival of highly necessary aid for the Valencian agrifood sector”, with this being placed at “over 500 million euros as the amount that we could stop receiving over the next four years”.
Innovation Award. This prize has been given to Tecnidex, a company that backs innovation and R&D. Amongst the projects that the company detailed in its nomination those aimed at environmental protection stand out. The chairman of Tecnidex, Manuel García-Portillo, showed his gratitude and stated that “as a businessman, I am very proud to receive this prize. It is marvellous when you are recognised in your own land and in your own sector”. García-Portillo took this opportunity to “congratulate and thank all our team for their involvement. Without innovation and without them, this prize would not be possible”.
Professional Excellence Award. It was given “ex aequo” to Emilio Pons and to Eduardo Fernández, whom Segura highlighted as a clear example of “dignity and integrity in the exercising of the agricultural engineer profession”.
Initiative and development award. Given to the Spanish Agronutrient Manufacturers Association for the important R&D+i work these companies are carrying out to obtain healthy, productive crops, with particular relevance placed on ecological farming and integrated production.
Novel Experience Award. Given to Nicanor Ivanco for his final dissertation project “New stadium for Paterna CF”.
