Prognosfruit, Europe’s leading annual event for the apple and pear sector, will hold its 2026 edition in Constance, Germany, from 5 to 7 August. The event, organised by the World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA) in cooperation with BVEO —Bundesvereinigung der Erzeugerorganisationen Obst und Gemüse e.V.—, will mark a special milestone this year, celebrating 50 years of uninterrupted editions.
Since 1976, Prognosfruit has released the annual forecast for apple and pear production for the upcoming season, becoming a key reference point for growers, marketers, sector organisations and international operators. The 2026 edition will once again bring together representatives from Europe and other producing countries to discuss the Northern Hemisphere situation and global market perspectives for apples and pears.
Registration is now open through the official event website, www.prognosfruit.eu, where the conference programme and accommodation booking information for Constance are also available.
EU forecasts and market analysis
The main sessions of Prognosfruit 2026 will take place on Thursday, 6 August, at the Bodenseeforum Conference Centre in Constance.
The morning programme will cover the EU apple forecast, EU apple market analysis, the organic market and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) forecast model. Focus will then broaden to apples and pears across the rest of the Northern Hemisphere, with outlooks for the EU neighbourhood, Turkey, China and the United States.
Pears will also have a dedicated session, including the EU pear forecast and EU pear market analysis. This information will allow the sector to anticipate trends, assess supply developments and analyse potential market balances for the coming season.
International perspectives, apple juice and climate change
In addition to production forecasts, Prognosfruit 2026 will include a panel discussion under the title “Looking back and forward”, aimed at reviewing the recent evolution of the sector and its future prospects.
Afternoon sessions will focus on other international aspects for apples and pears, as well as supply and demand in the apple juice market, a segment of growing importance within the overall balance of the category.

The programme will also include a specific session on climate change, one of the major structural challenges facing European fruit production. Conference will address solutions and adaptation strategies in a context marked by increasing climate variability, extreme weather events and new sustainability requirements across the supply chain.
The day will conclude with the main conclusions of the event and the announcement of Prognosfruit 2027.
Three-day programme in Constance
The event will run over three days. The 5 of August, participants will be welcomed with a reception and guided tour of Castle Mainau, on the Island of Mainau by Lake Constance.
On Thursday, 6 August, the main Prognosfruit 2026 Conference will take place at the Bodenseeforum Conference Centre, followed by a gala dinner at Konzil Constance.
On Friday, 7 August, delegates will have the opportunity to take part in technical visits to Widemann Bodensee-Kelterei in Barmatingen, a juice production company, and to the Kompetenzzentrum Obstbau Bodensee, a fruit research centre located in Ravensburg-Bavendorf.
Registration and accommodation
WAPA encourages sector professionals, stakeholders and journalists interested in attending to register through the official Prognosfruit website. The organisation also recommends booking accommodation by 22 June 2026 in order to benefit from discounted rates at selected hotels in Constance.
This recommendation is particularly relevant this year, as the event will coincide with high demand for accommodation in the city due to the Konstanzer Seenachtfest, the renowned lakeside festival taking place on 8 August 2026.
