Agroponiente starts off the campaign

During this campaign the Grupo Agroponiente is planning to market 50 million kilos of watermelons and around 20 of melons, both conventional and the new ecological line.

Once again, this year it will sell different varieties of black seeded and seedless watermelons, Crimson, white seedless, with yellow flesh and mini, with its brand names Hortni, La Premium de Agroponiente, Gold Quality and Poniente, in addition to the Fashion watermelon on the European markets (amongst which Spain is included).

With regard to melons, the marketing starts off at the end of April and the beginning of May. For brands such as Poniente and Bombón de Agroponiente, the Black or Piel de Sapo and Cantaloupe melon varieties start being marketed at the end of April; the Galia at the beginning of May and the Amarillo in the middle of the month. Overall melon production is being forecasted to be slightly higher than last year, with important increases in Galia and a larger production of Piel de Sapo.

Grupo Agroponiente will also have ecological melon and watermelon production. The ‘eco’ melon varieties will be Amarillo and Piel de Sapo Mini, whilst Mini will be the watermelon variety. All of them will be marketed under the brand name of Bio Poniente.
