Anión F1, greater resistance in late cycle

18 April, 2020

Clause

HM.CLAUSE has added a new feature to its pepper catalogue: resistance to nematodes and powdery mildew.

The seed company HM.CLAUSE continues to extend its ION range of peppers with resistance to nematodes and powdery mildew. This campaign, the new addition is Anión F1 (HMC 57356), a red California pepper developed for late plantations (mainly recommended for between the 1st and the 15th of August). Anión F1 is the company’s most robust material and it has even greater resistance than its predecessor, Katión F1, in addition to the fact that the fruit can stay on the plants for longer. Its size is slightly smaller and it is ideal for cooperatives. “It has a very good shape; it is easily harvested and it has excellent plant health,” explains Raimundo García, Sales Technician, to Fruit Today. The fruit’s external bright colour is exceptional.

Katión F1, also for late cycle, can be planted quite early. “It can be planted from the 20th of July and the red fruit can be harvested from around the 25th of November.” Some farmers opt for cutting the peppers while they are green, as both are possible with this plant. With a G calibre (for auctions and cooperatives), Katión F1 offers significant quality and a lack of silvering and cracking.

Other materials for late cycles, with a long history in the company are Aitana F1 (a pepper with calibre), and Amparo F1 (the largest of its range, ideal for auctions.)

In the medium segment, HM.CLAUSE has an ‘ION’ variety introduced in 2019: Bastión F1, ideal for planting from the 1st of July onwards. It is the first yellow California pepper with resistance to nematodes and powdery mildew. With a plant that is more robust than the Deseo F1, it sets easily and is more productive. Its fruit, with G calibre for export, are heavy and with a large amount of wall. They have significant quality, even in secondary shoots and they are very similar to the fruit of Deseo F1, with four well-formed quarters and an eye-catching lemon-yellow colour. Its easy harvesting, without having to use scissors is also worth mentioning, as “the fruit falls off very well.” As in the case of Morfeo F1 (larger calibre for the national market) and Deseo F1, the fruit can stay longer on the plant while maintaining the quality.
